Oracle status¶
All in-scope .text functions for the EXE and the six code-bearing game DLLs
are transcribed and verified. The full-image builds are byte-identical to the
canonical references.

ScriptStrings_MERCS.dll is a pure resource table with no code; it is not a
build target.
Out of scope¶
- The 31 IAT jump thunks in the EXE platform tail (
0x75DB4A–0x76015C), listed insrc/mw4mercs/artifacts/extra_functions.csv. They are not at the end of.text:.textcontinues to0x76809E, and.txt2begins at0x769000. - The
.txt2SafeDisc leftover (FUN_00769000). Its bytes are preserved as committed data for layout; it is not decompiled. - External SafeDisc/DRM components and the bundled DRM DLLs. The EXE's in-image wrapper/tail is part of the platform surface.
- External CRT/middleware code; CRT ranges inside a target module are part of that module's surface.
- The four editor/config tools (
autoconfig_MERCS.exe,MapCreator.exe,NFMEditor.exe,MW4Ed2.exe). They are documented as reference records underdocs/editor_tools/, not oracle targets. mcp.dll(Borland/Delphi DRM helper).
Reproduce¶
call tools\env.bat
nmake objs
nmake data-objs
nmake exe
nmake verify
The default build does not need the reference binaries. nmake data and
nmake init are optional regeneration steps; the hashes remain in
reference/SHA256.txt. Module builds are described in BUILD.md.
